EventFerry › Outlook calendar link
How to get your Outlook calendar link
EventFerry reads your calendar through a private link that Outlook creates for you. It takes about a minute, and you never share your Microsoft password.
Before you start
- Use Outlook on the web (outlook.office.com for work or school accounts, or outlook.live.com for personal ones). If you normally use the desktop app, open Outlook on the web in your browser for this one step.
- Menu names can differ slightly between versions, but the steps below are the same idea everywhere.
Steps
- Sign in to Outlook on the web and click the gear icon (Settings) at the top right.
- Choose Calendar, then Shared calendars.
- Find Publish a calendar.
- Under Select a calendar, choose the calendar you want to sync, usually Calendar.
- Under Select permissions, choose how much detail to share (see below).
- Click Publish.
- Two links appear. Copy the one ending in .ics (the ICS link), not the HTML link.
- Paste it into the EventFerry portal when it asks for your Outlook link.
Which permission should I choose?
- Can view when I'm busy: your Google calendar shows blocks marked "Busy", with no titles, locations or details.
- Can view titles and locations: your events show their titles and locations, without the descriptions.
- Can view all details: your events copy across in full.
If you're unsure, start with Can view when I'm busy. You can publish again with more detail later.
Keep the link private
Anyone who has the link can read that calendar, so treat it like a password. EventFerry stores it encrypted and never shows it back to you. To stop sharing, go back to the same Outlook page and choose Unpublish. EventFerry loses access immediately, and your Google calendar simply stops updating.
If you don't see "Publish a calendar"
Many organizations switch calendar publishing off. If the option is missing, greyed out, or gives an error, your IT team has probably disabled it. Ask them to enable calendar publishing (also called external sharing) for your calendar. EventFerry can't work without it, because the link is the only way it can read your events.
If your events aren't showing in Google

If EventFerry says it can't read your link
- Check that you copied the .ics link, not the HTML one.
- If you republished or unpublished the calendar, the old link stops working. Publish again and paste the new link under Connection Settings in the portal.
- Make sure the link starts with
https://outlook.office365.comorhttps://outlook.live.com.
