Outlook calendar not showing in Google Calendar?
You added your Outlook calendar to Google Calendar with Other calendars, then From URL, and the events never appeared. It's a common problem. Here are the usual reasons, in the order worth checking.
1. You pasted the wrong kind of link
Outlook gives you two links when you publish a calendar: an HTML link that opens a web page, and an ICS link. Google needs the one ending in .ics. The HTML link is accepted, then silently shows nothing.
Here is how to get the right link.
2. The link doesn't work any more
If you published the calendar again, or stopped sharing it, the old link stops working. Test yours: paste it into a browser's address bar. A working ICS link downloads a small file, or shows text starting with BEGIN:VCALENDAR. If you get an error, a sign-in page, or "not found", Google can't read it either. Publish again and use the new link.
3. Your organization blocks publishing
Many companies turn calendar publishing off. If Publish a calendar is missing or greyed out in Outlook, ask your IT team to enable it for your calendar. Without a published link, no tool can read the calendar from outside.
4. Google hasn't fetched it yet
Google Calendar fetches calendars added by URL on its own schedule. It doesn't offer a refresh button, and the first fetch and later updates can take many hours. Sometimes events never arrive at all, and there's no error to tell you why. If it has been a day and the link tests fine, waiting longer is unlikely to help.
5. The calendar is hidden, or not synced to your phone
- On the web, check that the calendar's box is ticked in the left-hand list under Other calendars.
- On your phone, subscribed calendars may not show until you turn them on in the Google Calendar app's settings: open Settings, choose the calendar, and switch on Sync.
A faster way that doesn't depend on Google's schedule
EventFerry uses the same published Outlook link, but fetches it every 15 minutes itself and writes the events into a Google calendar through Google's own interface. There's a Sync now button for when you can't wait, and the dashboard tells you if your link stops working and how to fix it. You don't install anything, and you never give it your Microsoft password.
