How to sync your Outlook calendar to Google Calendar

There are three practical ways to see Outlook events in Google Calendar. This guide covers each one honestly, including the trade-offs.

Step 1: find your Outlook ICS link

Most methods start with a published calendar link. Our step-by-step directions cover it in detail; the short version is below.

  1. In Outlook on the web, open Settings, then Calendar, then Shared calendars.
  2. Under Publish a calendar, choose your calendar and the level of detail to share.
  3. Select Publish, then copy the ICS link.

Treat this link like a password: anyone who has it can read the calendar. Your organization's administrator may disable publishing; if the option is missing, ask your IT team.

A note on Google's "From URL" option

Google Calendar offers Other calendars, From URL, and it looks like the obvious free answer. When we tried it with an Outlook calendar link, the events never showed up in Google Calendar. Your results may differ, and it costs nothing to try first.

Method 1: Official desktop sync tools

Vendors offer sync add-ins that run on your computer. They update quickly but usually require installing software, a particular operating system or a paid workspace plan, and many employers block them.

Method 2: Build your own automation

You can wire up a no-code automation or a script. It is flexible, yet you own the maintenance: expired tokens, changed connectors and silent failures are on you.

Method 3: Use EventFerry

EventFerry uses that ICS link, fetches it every 15 minutes and writes the events into a dedicated Google calendar through Google's API. There is nothing to install and nothing to maintain, and the dashboard tells you when action is needed.
